Mind and Emotions Group
Purpose: Mind and Emotions Group provides a wide range of strategies and exercises for changing the behaviors and thoughts that contribute to uncomfortable feelings such as anxiety, depression, anger, PTSD, shame, guilt, and depression.
Objectives: Group members learn and practice the most effective coping skills: 1) clarifying and acting on your core values, 2) mindfulness and acceptance, 3) detaching from negative thoughts, 4) self-soothing and relaxation exercises, 5) assertiveness and interpersonal skills, and 6) gradually facing strong emotions.
Modality: 1x/week, open-ended
Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria: Participants have to be fully connected to Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
Participants should be able to tolerate and participate in a group and express interest in learning about or practicing these concepts and techniques. They will be asked to commit to attending group on a regular basis.
